SODA ASH FEATURES
Sodium Carbonate Technical Details
Sodium carbonate with the chemical formula (Na2CO3) is a solid white substance that is produced in both powder and granular forms, which are also known by other names such as Soda Ash and Washing Soda in various industries.
Sodium Carbonate is produced through a variety of processes and methods from natural sources, mainly through the Solvay process by using limestone (calcium carbonate), ammonia, and salt (sodium chloride). In this method, the final product is Sodium Carbonate and calcium chloride would be a by-product of this process.
According to the specification and application of Sodium Carbonate, there is two grade Dense and Light grade. Sodium Carbonate is a chemical material with several purposes and functions that will be used in different industries.

SODA ASH APPLICATIONS
Sodium Carbonate would be the multipurpose chemical that has several applications in different industries as follows:
In the production of glass
One of the most important applications of sodium carbonate in the glass industry. The use of sodium carbonate in the production of glass reduces the consumption of energy and will save energy.
In the production of Chemical
Sodium Carbonate would be one of the more important industrial chemicals material that would be used in the production of alkaline products (the solution that have pH more than 7), sodium salts, and …
Sodium Carbonate is used in the production of chemicals such as Baking Soda (NaHCO3), Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3), sodium triphosphate (Na5P3O10), sodium dichromate (Na2Cr2O7), sodium cyanide (NaCN) and …
In the Paper production
In order to reproduce paper from waste paper and decolorize waste paper Sodium Carbonate will be used.
Sodium Carbonate would be a regulator of acidity (pH Controller) in paper production.
In the production of soap and detergents
Sodium Carbonate is the raw material for the production of powder detergents also will be used as an alkaline agent in the production of various detergents.
Removing the hardness of Water
By adding sodium carbonate to hard water, calcium and magnesium ions are removed and as a result, the amount of detergent used in soft water without hardness would be reduced.
Urban Water Reservoir
Sodium carbonate increases the pH of the water and decreases the acidic effect of chlorine on water. Due to these properties, sodium carbonate is commonly used in Urban Water reservoirs.
In The Textile Dyeing Industry
Sodium carbonate is used in the textile and dyeing industries to enhance the bonding of dye pigments and textile materials such as fibers, yarns.
In the Food Industry:
Sodium Carbonate Food Grade would be used in the production of various pickles – salting meat, pasta and noodles, carbonated soft drinks (beverages).
Sodium carbonate is used in the food industry as a pH control agent (Acidity regulators) and food preservative.
In the Electrolysis Industry:
Sodium Carbonate as an electrolyte agent increases the water decomposition into hydrogen and oxygen molecules.
In the Taxidermy process:
Sodium Carbonate helps meat off from the bone faster in the Taxidermy process and accelerates (Speed up) the process.
In the Chemicals Laboratories
In the Titration Reactions in chemicals laboratory tests should consider determining Primary and secondary standards, Sodium Carbonate is used as a primary standard in these reactions.
In the production of toothpaste
Sodium Carbonate is one of the main materials in the production of toothpaste, which removes stains and plaque on the teeth and causes toothpaste foam. The foaming agent of the toothpaste makes it easier to wash the teeth and abrasion them during brushing. The use of sodium carbonate in toothpaste also raises the pH of the mouth
In The Brick Making Process
Using Sodium Carbonate in the production of brick (block) dough requires less use of water and Sodium Carbonate acts as a moisture agent in this process.
In the Production Silk,
Sodium carbonate is used in the textile industry especially silk production as degumming of silk (Sodium carbonate is used as a gum remover in silk yarn production)
In the Petrochemicals and Oil industry: Sodium Carbonate would be used as one of the materials for the purification of Oil and also a neutralization agent in the petrochemicals industry.
Purification (Refining) of vegetable oils
To purify and refine vegetable oils, free fatty acids must be separated from the oil, for which sodium carbonate is used.
SODA ASH FORMULATION
Sodium Carbonate with Chemical name of Sodium Carbonate and molecular Formulation Na2CO3 or CNa2O3 would be in two grades: Sodium Carbonate Dense and Sodium Carbonate Light
The light and dense grade of Sodium Carbonate have the same chemical properties, only differing in physical appearance, pouring density, mesh, and application.
